Richard Louv

Richard Louv, an internationally-known author and speaker, has captured the nation's attention with his book, "The Last Child in the Woods." He is not alone in his belief that today's youth suffer from what he terms "nature deficit disorder." Many agencies, organizations and individuals have also developed initiatives to foster getting children outside. The realization that children are no longer experiencing the benefits of outdoor activity is recognized as being detrimental to their physical and mental growth and development, and as a primary determinant of their longevity and quality of life....READ MORE>>


Tickets for the 10/3 presentation are available at the Pikes Peak Center and World Arena box offices:  $10 for adults, $7 for educators and $5 for students. You can also order through Tickets West (719) 520-SHOW or online for an additional $2 per ticket service charge.

Southern Colorado Sustainable Communities Conference

November 20-21, 2008 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Colorado Springs

 

Since 2002, Fort Carson Mountain Post has produced an annual "Fort Carson Community Sustainability Conference" in order to report to the greater Pikes Peak region on its sustainability progress and to create greater awareness about sustainability that benefits the region. The conferences, which have attracted over 400 participants, were supported by over two dozen non-profit and government organizations and by over twenty private sector sustainable technology vendors.
