Catamount Institute recently celebrated it's 10th anniversary at a
reception hosted at the home of Board Member, Charlie Campbell and
Deborah Adams. On August 9th, over 50 enthusiastic members, friends and
supporters attended a beautiful backyard reception among the
butterflies and hummingbirds where Executive Director, Eric Cefus,
shared Catamount Institute's mission of inspiring ecological
stewardship.
"The philosophy at the heart of the mission and programs of Catamount Institute leads us to view the world through the eyes of nature. Natural systems are inherently self-sustaining; simultaneously complex and elegantly simple- but always rich with solutions. By connecting kids with nature and providing them the enhanced opportunity to learn first hand about nature IN nature, we are inspiring and motivating the environmental leaders and pioneers of the future.” Catamount Institute's youth programs include: Y.E.S. (Young Environmental Stewards), an after school program focused on building tomorrow's leaders today through experiential learning and community based service projects; SAGE (Schools Advocating Green Education), a program designed to help schools develop and fulfill ecologically sound practices in their school and community environments; and Keepers of the Water, an interactive field trip program that promotes an enriched understanding of stream ecology, water conservation and the climate's impact on the water cycle. |
