Julie Francis, co-founder and Board President of the Catamount Institute, announced the recent appointment of Eric Cefus to the position of Executive Director. The Catamount Institute, celebrating its tenth anniversary, is a non-profit focused on “inspiring environmental stewardship.” This mission is accomplished by developing and implementing successful science-based nature programs. Two of the leading programs are: Y.E.S (Young Environmental Stewards), a 4th and 5th grade after school program that builds tomorrow’s leaders today through community based service projects and experiential learning and SAGE (Schools Advocating Green Education), a program designed to help schools develop and fulfill ecologically sound practices in their school and community environments. Eric Cefus has a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology. During his 19 year career he has held several management positions in engineering and sales; the last 10 years were spent with Sturman Industries (SI) in Woodland Park, Colorado where his responsibilities included acting as SI’s International Business Coordinator. Eric’s involvement with the Catamount Institute goes back several years. He participated in and supported the local sustainability network designed for businesses as well as other prominent events sponsored by the Institute. In the summer of 2006, Eric was offered a position on the Board of Directors. Julie Francis observed that “Eric instantly brought new talent and energy to our group. He is very driven and focused. We knew that our decision to invite Eric onto the Board would pay off.” What no one knew at the time was that Eric’s involvement would lead to him taking over and redefining the Executive Director’s position. The Board of Directors currently include: Julie Francis, Ted Worcester, Charlie Campbell, Jennifer DeCesaro, and Ann Zwinger, Director Emeritus. “With the appointment of Eric Cefus, we are truly taking the Catamount Institute to the next level of becoming the leading organization in inspiring our children to become environmental stewards of this planet we call home,” states Charlie Campbell. “Eric’s drive, energy, professionalism, and dedication will be a driving force for the organization. We are looking forward to Eric’s leadership,” says Ted Worcester. |
