Catamount Institute Offers Wildlife Education program for Woodland Park's Columbine Elementary Stude PDF Print E-mail
Catamount Institute presented Columbine Elementary School’s 4th grade class an environmental education program highlighting water conservation, ecology and wildlife education of the Pikes Peak region. Students spent the day at Catamount Institute's mountain campus participating in the Keepers of the Water program, a hands-on investigation of the water cycle that helps students begin the process of becoming life-long water stewards. Students were guided through a series of workshop rotations that recreate the water cycle and demonstrate how it works, where our water comes from and how our actions can both positively and negatively affect the system. With generous assistance of Pikes Peak Ranger Barbara French-Pfeifer and Sally McCracken Martens from the Florissant Fossil Beds, students also discovered wildlife and native plants along the way. Catamount Institute is a nonprofit organization dedicated to inspiring environmental stewardship through leadership and education.
