Stream of Conscience was developed as a partnership program with FutureSelf , a program for young artists underserved youth in our community. Young people ages 12-19 will create a multi-media photo-documentary about Fountain Creek from its source above Catamount Institute downstream through the town of Fountain. They discover and explore Fountain Creek, then create works of art and science to interpret both the value of Fountain Creek as a natural resource for the Pikes Peak region as well as the degradation and pollution of this critical watershed. A brief documentary film about the process these young people experience will be produced by adult volunteers shadowing the teens. Teams of young people work to create a traveling exhibit of their interpretations to demonstrate the importance of addressing community issues in an innovative and powerful way. By combining science and art, participants bring awareness to environmental challenges in a very unique way.
