The Catamount Mountain School is a partnership with RE2 school. The school will reside at Catamount’s Mountain Site with a planned start date of Fall 2009. Modeled after D-20’s successful "School in the Woods", there will be 24 - 4th grader’s (8 students from each of the 3 elementary schools) from Woodland Park School District, RE2. The school offers state based curriculum with a “naturalist” spin. Two RE2 teachers will be responsible for the students with support from Catamount Institute. The current plan is to have “modular” buildings at the entrance of the Catamount Mountain property. This location allows for easy “drop off” and “pick up” opportunities with RE2’s transportation needs. We are currently working on logistics and funding opportunities. The long-range plans include the ultimate environmental learning center for children. There are also hopes to include other grade levels and graduate students at later dates.  |
